Zero suicide ambition for NHS

January 19th, 2015

mentalhealth_cleggDeputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg has today set out a new ambition for ‘zero suicides’ in the NHS in order to dramatically reduce the number of suicides happening in the health service. Recognising the significant stigma and taboo that surrounds suicide Nick Clegg’s spotlight on the issue is most welcome and we hope that it will bring new interest and commitment in the NHS to tackling this preventable cause of death. We hope other public services, schools, universities and employers will also rise to the challenge so the future quickly brings zero suicide communities across the UK.
