World Mental Health Day

World Mental Health Day 2014 has undoubtedly generated the most headlines and gained the highest public profile of any yet. It has been so encouraging to see so much debate about mental health. This was fuelled largely by Nick Clegg’s announcement that waiting time targets for people with mental health problems will be introduced for the first time. This will at last provide some potential parity of treatment between people with mental health problems and those with physical conditions such as cancer patients and people with heard disease. We will be watching keenly to see whether these promises can be translated into tangible differences.
