The Judi Meadows Memorial Fund raise funds to support specific research projects that are working towards an increased understanding of depression and suicide risk that will in turn help influence policy and practice.  In 2010, we ran an open tender process to attract applications for our first round of funding. We were delighted with the quality of the applications we attracted. Following a robust peer review process the first two research awards, totaling in excess of £150,000, have now been made.

The successful projects are:

The projects are due to run from June 2011 to December 2012. Each project team will be submitting to us six-monthly progress reports and a final full report in December 2012. We wish the projects the best of luck with their research.

In addition, we are funding the British Tinnitus Association to complete a James Lind Alliance Priority Setting Partnership on tinnitus. This will develop a list of research uncertainties, to be added to the UK DUETs database www.library.nhs.uk/duets/, and will prioritise the top 10 research uncertainties. Both the top 10 and longer list of research uncertainties will then be used by the BTA to lobby for further research funding and encourage the research community to undertake research identified as a priority. The project runs from September 2011 to August 2012. Further information about the British Tinnitus Association is available at www.tinnitus.org.uk/ and details about the James Lind Alliance aims and process can be found at www.lindalliance.org/

To complement the research we support we also have programmes of work that focus on building collaboration with mental health charities, civil servants, clinicians, academics and campaigning individuals to influence policy and practice. Further information available at About the Memorial Fund.
