Influencing coroner reforms to help families bereaved by suicide
The Ministry of Justice are consulting on the implementation of reform to the coroner service. There are a range of issues that are pertinent to suicide prevention, including:
· Improved training for coroners.
· Better support for bereaved families who come into contact with coroners’ offices.
· The standard of proof required to deliver a verdict of suicide
· The disclosure of information that could aid academic research into suicide.
The consultation closes on April 12th and the documents are available at:

Please do take time to comment if you would like to see the Coroners service better support those bereaved by suicide, and contribute more effectively to understanding that could help to reduce risk.
